Entebbe International Airport has set a new record for passenger traffic, handling 230,577 travelers in July 2025, the highest monthly figure in the airport’s history. The milestone surpasses the previous record of 222,301 passengers registered in December 2024, according to data released by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The figures show that the airport managed 119,127 arrivals and 111,450 departures, averaging 7,437 passengers per day. Officials say the surge reflects Uganda’s growing position as a key travel and business hub in the region.
The CAA attributed the growth to multiple factors, including the influx of delegations for the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024), aggressive tourism promotion efforts, an increase in international conferences hosted in Uganda, and enhanced airline connectivity that has made Entebbe more accessible.
In addition to passenger traffic, the airport also recorded 5,863 metric tonnes of cargo, with 3,961 tonnes of exports and 1,902 tonnes of imports, reinforcing Entebbe’s role in facilitating trade and commerce.
The record-breaking performance highlights the steady recovery and growth of Uganda’s aviation sector, which continues to benefit from expanding infrastructure, increased global interest in the country’s tourism, and stronger regional trade links.
