Uganda Reassures Tourists as Ebola Cases Remain Isolated

The Uganda Tourism Board has reassured travelers, tourism partners, and the international community that Uganda remains safe and open for tourism, despite recent media reports linking Ebola cases to cross-border movements from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to the statement, Uganda has registered two isolated imported Ebola cases involving Congolese nationals who entered the country from the DRC. One patient has since died and was repatriated, while the second is currently receiving treatment under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.

Authorities emphasized that there is currently no local transmission or community spread within Uganda, stressing that the situation remains fully contained and under control.

Uganda’s tourism sector, including national parks, hotels, conference facilities, and transport services, continues to operate normally without disruption. Officials highlighted the country’s long-standing reputation for effectively managing previous Ebola outbreaks and other public health emergencies.

Visitors were encouraged to maintain standard hygiene practices such as regular handwashing and use of sanitizers while continuing to enjoy Uganda’s tourism offerings.

“Uganda remains safe, open, and welcoming for tourism, business, and investment,” the statement noted, adding that daily life across the country continues as normal.
