Uganda Wildlife Authority Warns Staff Against Asking Tourists for Tips

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has issued a strong warning to its park staff, especially tour guides, about the bad practice of asking tourists for tips.

UWA has received reports that some staff members have been requesting tips from visitors and even rejecting small amounts when offered. This behavior is wrong and not acceptable. According to UWA, tipping should always be the decision of the visitor. No staff member should force, pressure, or harass tourists to give tips.

Offering good service should not depend on whether a client gives a tip or not. UWA reminds all staff that their duty is to serve visitors with professionalism, respect, and honesty at all times.

The act of asking for tips goes against the core values of UWA. These values include integrity, customer care, and high service standards. UWA says it will not tolerate any behavior that puts the organization’s good image at risk.

The authority is urging all staff to stop this practice immediately. UWA also encourages visitors to report any staff member who asks for or demands tips.

UWA is committed to providing a great experience for all tourists in Uganda’s national parks and protected areas. All employees are expected to play their part by acting in a professional and ethical manner.

In conclusion, UWA wants all its staff to understand that soliciting tips is unethical and must stop. Serving with honesty and excellence should be their priority. Let us protect the image of our parks and make every visitor feel welcome and respected.
